Sr. Manager, Marketing Analytics (R&D)

Opportunity: 

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager of Marketing Analytics. This role is pivotal in helping our University make data-driven decisions, optimize marketing strategies, and drive growth. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of marketing analytics, a proven track record of delivering actionable insights, and the ability to work collaboratively across the marketing department and with key stakeholders in the University.

 

The Senior Manager of Marketing Analytics will be responsible for tracking a broad set of business metrics, owning the planning process, building a suite of reports, and partnering with stakeholders for opportunities. The Senior Manager of Marketing Analytics will be highly motivated with the ability to operate independently and effectively with others in the organization to achieve the University's objectives.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic direction for marketing analytics, working closely with senior leadership to define and achieve key performance indicators (KPIs) for marketing efforts.
  • Data Analysis: Oversee the collection, analysis, and interpretation of marketing data, including learner behavior, campaign performance, website traffic, and more. Use statistical and analytical tools to extract actionable insights.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with Marketing, Strategic Enrollment, and other departments to communicate insights and recommendations, helping shape strategies and tactics.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest marketing analytics tools, techniques, and industry trends. Continuously optimize the analytics process and data collection methods.
  • Marketing
    • Work closely across the marketing department and with Strategic Enrollments to understand the systems and data points applicable to each group, and to advise on areas for opportunity with specific focus on SEO and Search Engine Marketing.
    • Analyze and report on the efficiency and effectiveness of marketing campaigns
    • Analyze data throughout the student journey including but not limited to cost of acquisition, conversion, email metrics, persistence, and graduation rates and identify opportunities to improve the process
    • Understand how student data is structured in the systems, and segments the database based on criteria (market, program, audience, life cycle stage, etc.) to best target a specific market or user type and identifies opportunities within those segments.
    • Work to build attribution models by marketing source to optimize spend and touchpoints through the funnel  
  • Planning
    • Manage the annual planning process to build a plan for new students by gathering input from stakeholders, ensuring activities/deliverables ladder up to plan, identifying and sizing opportunities and risks and subsequently tracking ongoing performance
    • Provide ongoing forecasts of performance to be shared with stakeholders and align on expectations
    • Create a measurement plan that provides visibility into drivers of performance and explains variances vs plan and socialize plan with internal stakeholders.
    • Provide analytical support to help size and prioritize the impact of various initiatives - e.g., segmentation, ROI, etc. for various AD Hoc projects
  • Reporting and Dashboards:
    • Create and maintain comprehensive dashboards and reports that provide stakeholders with clear, timely, and relevant information on marketing performance.
    • Ensure data accuracy and consistency.
    • Build and maintain a lead dashboard to review weekly/monthly activity of lead volume and make recommendations to the marketing management team.
    • Oversees auto-generated reporting and manages list distribution
    • Create and analyze data on the competitive and macro trends impacting internal marketing performance
  • Technical
    • Data Integration: Work with cross-functional teams to integrate data from various sources, ensuring a unified view of learner data and marketing metrics
    • Partner with IT teams to structure data and analysis from a variety of systems and use the aggregated data to tell a holistic story
    • Define and improve upon processes for gathering, storing, reporting, and sharing data and analytics across the organization
    • Coordinate with clients and vendors to facilitate data transfer for marketing initiatives
    • Develop business cases for working with vendors to acquire more information from their systems.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in marketing analytics, marketing operations, or digital marketing experience, preferably in a related industry with hands-on experience working with databases, reporting on data, and working in an analytical capacity.
  • 4 to 6 years of experience working with reporting and visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau
  • Experience with marketing analytics platforms and tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, marketing automation platforms).
  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred
  • Excellent project management skills (JIRA and Asana background a plus)
  • Financial analytics a plus
  • Strong background in planning and forecasting
  • A passion for the truth; high intellectual curiosity; thought leader; proactive; self-starter; leadership skills to take charge and facilitate data-gathering or analytic exercises - Superior analytic, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Strong business acumen; sufficient business exposure and experience to interpret analytical results and translate into ideas and/or actionable recommendations.
  • Understanding of broad set of business and operational metrics (e.g., not just marketing) - Experience preparing business cases to justify projects.
  • Able to analyze imperfect data to make recommendations with available information; help organization make trade-off of making decisions with less-than-ideal information versus time/effort required to improve data or analysis.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Quick learner - able to learn organization, new analytical approaches, and tools.
  • Ability and willingness to take a hands-on approach to translate analyses into actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex insights to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with broad set of stakeholders; ability to sort through ambiguity and confusion to bring structure and order to decisions.
  • Strong quantitative skills, proficient in R, Python, and SQL with deep knowledge of both data extraction as well statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing data sets
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously against tight deadlines
