LTI is seeking a Utility Mechanic in Mount Vernon. LTI-Milky Way is the leader in bulk liquid transport throughout the Pacific Northwest and we are continuing to grow and seek new members of our talented team.
SUMMARY:
The Utility Mechanic is a vital member of the LTII Maintenance teams and this is a great growth opportunity for an entry level Mechanic. The primary duty of the Utility Mechanic is to inspect, repair and maintain our fleet of trucks, trailers and shop vehicles while observing all company safety and regulatory policies. The Utility Mechanic works in close collaboration with Maintenance Assistants, Mechanics and Maintenance Managers as well as our Drivers, Wash Bay Staff and Yard Crew.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). General mechanic skills and basic experience in welding and tool repair is preferred. The ideal candidate will also possess basic computer/data entry skills and will have strong attention to detail.
Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and be at least 18 years of age. Employee must be willing to meet Department of Transportation requirements and possess or be willing to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License with Class A Air, Doubles and Tankers endorsements.
Employee must be willing to obtain their own hand / air tools in order to become a union mechanic.
Employee is required to obtain a TWIC card in order to access job sites at refineries and ports of entry.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and taste or smell.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Employee is required to wear PPE as outlined in Company's Industrial Health and Safety Manual Chapter 2.27 PPE Program, which may include hard hat, safety toe shoes/boots, gloves, safety glasses/goggles, FR clothing, high-vis, hearing protection and respiratory protection.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions and is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in this work environment is usually loud.
Passing a pre-employment drug test is required.
A post conditional offer of employment physical, drug test and background investigation are required.
