Dispatcher - Chicago (Finance)



Position Description

Primary Purpose:

Maintain professional relationships with customers, carriers and other Kinder Morgan employees

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Maintain high level of attention to detail to ensure there are accurate calculations to avoid serious and costly errors
  • Work closely with senior dispatchers and manager to respond to all customer complaints and inquires
  • Must be able to multi-task with shifting priorities
  • Create plant operating orders, take phone calls, interface with truck drivers, communicate via radio
  • Issue proper placards, seals, SDS, COA and product ID tags to driver
  • Perform order verification throughout the day:
  • o Verify all orders are closed - Peform Business Objects
  • o Ensure accurate delay codes have been applied to orders as applicable
  • o Enter customer ancillary charges as applicable
  • Obtain tare and gross weights of tank trucks; calculate quantity of product loaded
  • Assist with managing truck activity in the terminal
  • Create an accurate legal D.O.T. BOL that meets KLM, D.O.T. and customer requirements
  • Accurately complete tank truck movement data in the KM and customer inventory systems while providing great customer service
  • Follow through on customer related issues with management to ensure complete customer satisfaction
  • Maintain proficiency and accuracy
  • Handle issues and problems related to the movement of the customers' product by interfacing with the CSR Manager
  • Must be able to satisfy all customer requirements as the business demands. Promote teamwork among co-workers to ensure all customers are 100% satisfied in an efficient and timely manner
  • Must be current in DOT certification/training
  • Shifts may vary by customer demand and as a result, dispatchers may be required to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime

Position Requirements

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • College experience is a plus
Experience / specific knowledge:

  • Must have at least 3-5 years experience working in the liquids terminal industry
  • Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations
  • Experience dispatching, scaling trucks and calculating loads according to DOT regulations
Certifications, licenses, registrations:
  • Must be current in DOT certification/training
Competencies, skills, and abilities:
  • Must possess excellent math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages and fractions)
Physical demands:

  • Proficient in Excel, Data Entry and Outlook
  • Must have the knowledge and ability with systems such as SAP and/or any other inventory systems
  • Must be very detailed oriented and have the ability to problem solve and troubleshoot
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability the multi-task as well as manage the dispatching office with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to perform work as directed by management
  • Individual must possess excellent customer service skills as well as the ability to work from written and verbal instructions
  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisors(s), adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules
  • Must be able to work quickly, independently and accurately under pressure
  • Maintain regular, dependable attendance and high level of performance
Working Conditions:
  • Include but may not be limited to walking up and down stairs, standing for extending periods of time and carrying up to 25 pounds

Compensation:
$45,300 - $63,400
Job level and pay commensurate with experience and skill set.
